At LINK, military veterans own approximately 13% of our franchises. LINK is a member of the International Franchise Association’s VetFran program. VetFran was established to support our veterans returning from the first Gulf War and has grown to include more than 650 franchise systems that voluntarily offer financial incentives to veterans seeking to become franchisees. Through the VetFran program more than 6,500 servicemen and women have become franchisees and more are being added every month.
In addition to the incentives and support we offer to veterans who want to become LINK franchisees, we also encourage all of our franchisees to help vets find meaningful post-military employment. Supporting returning veterans by helping them to find employment where their skills and experience will be put to good use is a critical part of our business model. Unfortunately, unemployment in the veteran population is 6.2%. That’s why our LINKCorps™ program supplements the employment services offered by Veteran Affairs and helps transitioning vets connect with companies looking for exemplary employees. Veterans are one of our nation’s most prized possessions. They have willingly served their country and were prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice for their fellow countrymen. We’re proud to offer support and assistance to veterans of the US Armed Forces.
I spent several years serving in the US Army which gave me the leadership skills and confidence necessary to run a business. I worked for LINK for eight years as a branch manager before buying my first LINK franchise in 2000. My office in San Antonio is consistently one of the top performing offices and won Franchise Office of the Year Award in 2015.
